“I believe that everyone has a story to tell, I count it as a privilege to spread the word far and wide, extending the reach of BAT and its influence”

Shar Davis

Communications Coordinator

Shar has spent her adult working life as a Salvation Army officer (minister) in a variety of roles. She has run churches, worked with youth, children, the homeless, sex workers, community-based services, chaplaincy work and more recently in the Communications department of the Army’s national office.

A trained journalist, Shar believes that everyone has a story to tell and she loves using various mediums for storytelling including public speaking, the written word, video and photography. She is impressed by the work that BAT is doing and counts it a privilege to spread the word far and wide, extending the reach of the organisation and its influence.

She is currently chief servant of three cats—Ernie, Murdock (a blind rescue from the SPCA) and his best friend Mabel (fostered together as kittens). She plans on adding a dog to the whānau as soon as possible.

Qualifications:

Shar has a Bachelor of Theology and a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Māori studies) from Otago University as well as a Diploma in Journalism (multimedia) and a Certificate in Editing from Whitireia Polytechnic and a Certificate in Adult Education from WelTec.
