BAT PEER GROUP MEETING

Did I hit my head when I had my spinal cord injury?

Capturing and understanding impacts of co-occuring traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is common among people with Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury (TSCI), but rates vary across studies associated with different approaches to TBI diagnosis.

In this presentation, Debbie will present the findings from a population-based perspective cohort study reviewing rates of co-occuring TBI among people with TSCI.

She will also seek consultation on moving forward into phase 2 which explores how best to capture a co-occuring TBI in NZ spinal rehabilitation centres and to better understand the impacts of the TBI on outcomes.

Associate Professor Debbie Snell is a Christchurch-based clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist with many years’ experience working in concussion and TBI rehabilitation services in NZ.
