Changing of the Guard

After five years at the helm we are sad to see Dr Debbie Snell stepping aside as BAIL’s Academy Director.

Debbie arrived in the BAIL office in October 2011 and her leadership has seen BAIL grow and flourish. Debbie has focused on developing stronger academic and research goals and successfully secured a number of major research projects for BAIL. She was fundamental in developing BAIL’s Knowledge Translation Strategy. Debbie has managed BAIL through a number of significant events, including BAIL’s tenth birthday and the evacuation from the Alan Bean Centre which saw the eventual demolition of this building as a result of structural damage.

This was a significant blow for BAIL however we have been very grateful to the CDHB for the opportunity to relocate on site at Burwood. Fortunately Debbie is not leaving the BAIL family altogether, she has taken up the role of Academy Advisor, and will continue to work with BAIL as a research collaborator.

Over the past 18 months the Board, along with Dr Debbie Snell, has been developing a succession plan, and from 1 December 2016 Dr Jo Nunnerley will take over as BAIL Academy Director, supported by Johnny Bourke in the position of Assistant Director.
