Summer Student Graduation

Each year the University of Otago runs a summer studentship programme which offers students an opportunity to get ten weeks of real world hands-on research.

This year BAIL sponsored and co-supervised a summer student to evaluate the patients admitted to the TransitioNZ programme at Burwood Hospital, and we welcomed Zahra Shahtahmasebi to the BAIL team over the summer.

The aim of the project was to describe the patients who have been admitted to the programme since it started in March 2009. We collected demographic and clinical outcomes of the population using patient notes and other clinical data.

The results of the audit are available in the projects section of our website.

Presentations of the summer studentship programme were held at the Rolleston lecture theatre on the 27th January.  Zahra presented the findings of her work and the BAIL team attended to support her.
